Susan has been at the Interactive Media Laboratory since 1994, designing graphics, illustrations, interfaces and animations, and researching their scientific content for our medical education programs.
Susan has a Master's Degree from the Department of Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago, one of five graduate programs in the U.S. for medical illustration. To quote their website, "Biomedical visualization combines visual problem-solving skills with knowledge of science, visual arts, education, communication, and an array of media and technologies."
Her undergraduate degree is in Biology and Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Her interests have always been human health and the interaction between medicine and society. She worked for several years in public health research, and is happy to be involved in the development of IML's programs with their frequent focus on the psychosocial aspects of medical problems.
