Screenshots from program. SimTrauma: Principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support

(No CME credit available.)

SimTrauma, which features C. Everett Koop, MD, as host and mentor, is one of two programs that the IML developed for a next-generation distance learning system for National Guard training (Nat.Guard DLS). Based on a "classic" interactive video program, medical officers learn about combat trauma management by assuming the role of a new physician in the Casualty Receiving Area of a Combat Zone Fleet Hospital and working through simulated trauma cases. This program makes extensive use of motion video to present interaction with the patient and requires that close attention be paid to all the patient information being presented in the video and elsewhere. The program is designed around the application of principles taught in the Advanced Trauma Life Support course.
